Mosquitoes are nuisances to humans and they transmit diseases such as Dengue, Chikungunya, Zika and yellow fever. These diseases can kill. To prevent these diseases, the mosquito population must be kept at low level at all times.
The 3 most common mosquitoes in Singapore are Anopheles, Aedes and Culex. Anopheles Mosquitoes rest on ground, vegetation, dead leaves and on buildings. Aedes Mosquitoes rest indoors on clothing, bedcovers, curtains and furniture. Culex Mosquitoes usually rest at thick vegetation and animal sheds. The most effective way to control the mosquito population is to get rid of their breeding sources.
Signs include the presence of:
- Stagnant water/water fountains/Polluted/Muddy water
- Ponds and Lakes, Swamps and Marshes
- Discarded foam boxes, dirty containers, natural and man-made containers
- Choked drain
- Roof Gutters
In areas that include but not limited to:
- Water
- Darkness
- Humidity
- Plants providing nectar and plant juices to male mosquitoes
- Living beings providing blood meals to female mosquitoes
Our Solution
A thorough inspection will be carried out and mosquito control can be carried by 3 methods. Chemical control using thermal fogging and misting, source reduction by ensuring no breeding of mosquito larva and environmental control is to advice client premise need good housekeeping and sanitization.
Method | How It Works |
---|---|
Thermal Fogging (Outdoor) | A popular choice due to visibility and pungent smell. Using Oil based chemical mixed with diesel to produce thick white smoke, effective in killing large mosquito population in the immediate vicinity. As smoke is light, the chemical spreads rapidly knocking down any mosquitoes. However once the smoke dissipates the mosquitoes may find its way back to the premise. |
Water-Base Fogging (Outdoor) | Similar to Thermal fogging but using water and a fogging agent. Release minimal smoke and no residue on plants or surfaces. Since water is heavier than smoke, the spread of this chemical is limited and has no residual effect. |
Water-Base Misting (Indoor and Outdoor) | A superior and effective treatment having residual effect. It is colourless, odourless and stainless thus can be used indoor and outdoor. Once the chemical dries it binds with the surface and can be effective for up to 2 weeks outdoor and about 1 month indoor. It has residual effect depending on environmental conditions. |
Traps | Eco friendly traps. Mosquitoes gets trapped, dehydrated and die, thus breaking the breeding cycle. |

Larvaciding (Oiling) | An effective technique to target and control the development of mosquito larvae. The different kinds of pesticides used can varies such as BTI dunks, temephos dunks, anti-malaria oil and granules. |
Source Reduction | Mosquitoes breed in stagnant water thus destroying potential breeding habitats found during the inspection is the most effective way to control the mosquitoes. Ground puddles, discarded containers, water storage containers, choked drains, roof gutters, are some examples. |
